Code 1), a criminal conviction may disqualify you from a registration, commission or license under the Act. You may wish to review Rule 35.4’s list of disqualifying offenses and the related periods of ineligibility, available on the department’s website at www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/psb/index.htm (click on the link to Administrative Code).  You also have a right to request from the department a criminal history evaluation letter under Occupations Code Section 53.102.”

Renewal, License/Endorsement/Commission (1702.302 TOC)

(d) A person whose license has been expired for one year or more may not renew the license.

Renewal, Security Officer Commission (1702.309 TOC, 35.83 TAC)

(a) … Only a board-approved instructor may administer the CE course… at least six hours of instruction…

(b) … must demonstrate the proficiency required under Section 1702.1685 within the 90-
day period before the date the Commission is renewed.

Renewal, Continuing Education Requirements (35.161 TAC)

(a) A license, registration, endorsement, or Commission may not be renewed until required CE credits have been earned ...

(g) Commissioned Security Officers and Personal Protection Officers shall complete six (6) hours of CE. …

... Commissioned Security Officers shall submit a firearms proficiency certificate [through TOPS] along with the renewal application.

It is your responsibility to turn in required certificate(s) to your company Manager, and application(s) through TOPS. Do not depend on others. For Level III Officers needing to complete Continuing Education (Requalification) Recertification who have never received baton training, DPS recommends completion of Unit 10 Intermediate Weapons of the full course before completing CE training to ensure adequate training concerning batons. NPSI offers a four-hour Baton Certification course; http://www.npsitraining.com/class/89333

You might be able to get your Texas License to Carry (LTC) Handgun with a little extra time and nominal charge. Tell your Instructor if you are interested.
